RESOLUTION RESPECTFULLY REQUESTING THE PHILIPPINE SPORTS COMMISSION (PSC), FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR THE PROCUREMENT OF SPORTS EQUIPMENT AND OTHER ATHLETIC MATERIALS FOR THE MUNICIPALITY OF ROXAS, ORIENTAL MINDORO

WHEREAS, Section 17, Article II of the 1987 Philippine Constitution provides that the State shall give priority to education, science and technology, arts, culture, and sports to foster patriotism and nationalism, accelerate social progress, and promote total human liberation and development;

WHEREAS, Section 19 (1), Article XIV of the same Constitution mandates that the State shall promote physical education and encourage sports programs, league competitions, and amateur sports, including training for international competitions, to foster self-discipline, teamwork, and excellence for the development of a healthy and alert citizenry;

WHEREAS, the Local Government Unit of Roxas, Oriental Mindoro recognizes the vital role of sports and physical activities in promoting the health, physical fitness, discipline, teamwork, camaraderie, and overall well-being of its constituents, particularly the youth;

WHEREAS, the Municipality of Roxas continues to support and encourage the participation of its athletes and sports enthusiasts in various local, provincial, regional, and national sports competitions and activities;

WHEREAS, adequate and appropriate sports equipment and athletic materials are essential in providing athletes and sports organizations with the necessary resources for proper training, skills development, and participation in sports competitions;

WHEREAS, despite the efforts of the Municipal Government to provide support to its athletes and sports programs, the available resources and sports equipment are insufficient to meet the growing needs of the Municipality's various sports activities and developing athletes;

WHEREAS, the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), as the government agency mandated to promote, develop, and oversee sports programs and activities in the country, is in a strategic position to extend assistance to local government units and sports organizations in support of grassroots sports development;

NOW THEREFORE, on motion of Councilor Sheikinah Grace C. Sanz and on mass sponsorship –

BE IT RESOLVED, as it is hereby resolved, to respectfully request the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) for financial assistance for the procurement of sports equipment and other athletic materials for the Municipality of Roxas, Oriental Mindoro, to support and strengthen its grassroots sports development programs and activities.

RESOLVED FURTHER, that copies of this Resolution be furnished to the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and other concerned offices and agencies for their information, appropriate action, and support.
